‘I composed a beautiful letter to you in the sleepless nightmare hours of the night, and it has all gone. I just miss you…’
Uncover one of the greatest literary love affairs of all time at our digital event with Alison Bechdel; acclaimed author, cartoonist and inventor of the film industry’s ‘Bechdel Test’.
To celebrate the release of Vintage Books’ newest collection of Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West’s love letters, we delve into the intimate, often laugh-out-loud funny, and deeply moving letters, peek inside their diaries to hear their inner-most thoughts, and consider the impact their relationship had on their friends, family, and those who came after.
Joining Alison is host Leena Normington, artist and writer Lauren John Joseph and actor Pearl Mackie who bring to life the amorous correspondences between Virginia and Vita at Charleston itself, showing that even 100 years on, their relationship remains as radical and relatable as ever.
The event will be available to watch on this page until 11.59pm on Sunday 14 March. Please use the password supplied in your booking confirmation email to play the video.
