Block printing extraordinaire Molly Mahon has launched #thegreatpotatoprintingsociety! Molly, and an incredible lineup of artists have each created a potato print for an online auction to raise funds for Charleston during these challenging times.
The auction goes live at www.thegreatpotatoprintingsociety.com on Monday 14 September, at 9am (UK time) and runs until 9pm (UK time) on Wednesday 23 September.
It’s almost six months since Charleston closed its doors and launched an Emergency Appeal, and we have been blown away by the generosity and creativity of everyone who has supported the charity so far.
Charleston is only a short distance from Molly’s home and is a huge inspiration to her. The designer has run a number of block printing workshops at Charleston, and last year created a capsule collection of hand blocked table linen for Charleston’s shop.
To create The Great Potato Printing Society (#thegreatpotatoprintingsociety), Molly reached out to 20 artists and fellow Charleston lovers and asked them to create an original, A3, one-off, signed potato print artwork for the auction.
Here’s who’s taking part:
Plus of course, Molly herself!
There is a reserve price of £200 (+ postage) on each print, and all profits from the auction will be donated to The Charleston Trust.
Follow @mollymahonblockprinting on Instagram as she reveals each of the artworks and shares the inspirations and process behind each print.
A huge thank you to Molly and all the artists who are taking part!
