Key Stage 2 – 5

We encourage and facilitate cross-curricular and extra-curricular learning and passionately believe creativity is central to effective learning in schools. Our House Tours have been developed by a team of teaching professionals to ensure they are relevant and meaningful supporting the broad and balanced curriculum.
The content and activities are differentiated according to the age of the students and needs of the group.
On Mondays and Tuesdays when the site is closed to the general public we can accommodate a maximum of 64 students at any one time.
On Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays we can accommodate a maximum of 32 students at any one time.
We work with Further Education and Higher Education Institutions on a bespoke basis. We can arrange House Tours to meet your particular needs and support the student’s critical thinking and research skills.
Option 1.
A Room of my own; An Introduction to Charleston.
Introduction and House tour (approx. 1hour)
Cost: £100 minimum or £5 per head
Option 2.
A Room of my own; An Introduction to Charleston.
Introduction and House tour, garden visit with practical drawing activities. (10 – 1pm)
Cost: £180 minimum or £7 per head
Option 3.
A Room of my own; An Introduction to Charleston. (10 – 2pm)
Introduction and House tour, garden visit with practical drawing activities and gallery exhibition visit.
Cost: £200 minimum or £8 per head
Option 4.
KS5+ A Room of my own; An Introduction to Charleston.
Full 1 hour tour with access to the Gardens and Gallery.
Cost: £100 minimum or £11.50 per head

As the home of artists, Charleston was a place of freedom, invention and creation. which provide a richly stimulating resource for learners of all ages and abilities.
Charleston is the only example of a complete Bloomsbury house in the world. The beautiful, hand painted interiors, domestic items and rich history of the house are a unique and authentic backdrop for tours and workshops.
The gardens, outdoor space and access to the Downs provide excellent opportunities for outdoor learning.
The galleries have a changing programme of exciting exhibitions which include contemporary work to inspire creative response and debate.
We offer:
Teachers are encouraged to come for a free (pre-arranged) planning visit to meet with a member of staff. We welcome everyone at Charleston and will work with you to ensure that your visit meets the needs of your students.
