Small Wonder Festival

The UK's only festival dedicated to short stories and short form writing.

Small Wonder Festival is the UK’s only festival dedicated to short stories and short form writing.

This year’s festival takes place from 24–26 September. Join us for a long weekend celebrating writers of short stories, lyrics, poetry, letters, essays, comic strips and cartoons as they share their ideas and inspirations.

We’ll be joined by a host of writers using the power of the written word in all sorts of different formats. From poet Carol Ann Duffy to oral storytellers the Crick Crack Club, and uncovering Proust’s early short stories for the first time to Ben Okri’s timely environmental fairytale.

Book tickets for individual events, a full day, or join us for the whole weekend. Around the site, there’ll be plenty going on with an onsite bookshop, an opportunity to meet the writers and ask them your questions, and delicious food and drink from Caccia and Tails. Of course, there’ll also be time to book a visit to our exhibitions, visit the house and enjoy the late summer in the garden.
