Vanessa Bell Floristry workshop at Charleston

A day immersed in flowers, inspired by the still life paintings of Vanessa Bell.  Participants will begin the day with a tour of the House and Garden, looking in detail at Vanessa Bell’s still life work. The rest of the day will be spent learning to create a large scale vase arrangement using a mix of home grown (by Carlsson & Co.) and seasonal flowers. Participants will explore how to combine flower shapes and colours to create flow and form.  After a delicious lunch, participants will be led for a short walk along the Old Coach Road, to forage a final few stems for the arrangement.  Everybody will leave with a beautiful arrangement, including the vase.

The cost of the day includes a tour of the House and Garden, an artisan lunch, tea and coffees, and all tools and materials. Suitable for all levels.

About the tutor

Founded by Moa Carlsson in 2015, Carlsson and Co. is an East London based floral design studio specialising in 100% English grown cut flowers. Their bouquets and arrangements combine classic blooms with bold and seasonal field flowers and greenery. They cultivate their flowers on growing sites across London. ‘Growing our own flowers provides access to a wider range of flowers besides those available wholesale. In addition to home grown ingredients, we also source flowers from flower farmers around the South of England. As a member of the national network of flower farmers, Flowers From The Farm, we support a sustainable British flower industry.’
