Join us for our lively and informal Reading Group as we unravel the personal and professional bonds that held the Bloomsbury Group together. As we place ideas of friendship and kinship at the heart of the success of the Group, we ask: what did friendship mean to them? How did their pursuit of new ways to live challenge or change their understanding of friendship? How did their relationships fuel their work and professional development? We will explore the spaces they created to allow connection and friendship to flourish, in the form of their various clubs, events and societies, from the Thursday evenings where the Group began to the intellectual intimacy of the Memoir Club.
Join us around the Coco Table in the Threshing Barn for civilised Sunday mornings of readings and lively discussion. Held on the first Sunday of every month, we will explore themes inspired by Charleston, the Bloomsbury Group, modernism, and our current exhibitions. These are informal and relaxed sessions, open to all, with no need to read anything in advance. Simply come along, settle down with your tea or coffee, and immerse yourself in literature, thoughts and ideas with like-minded people in an inspiring space. Led by our Reader in Residence Holly Dawson, following the success of the Sunday reading and discussion groups held during our Orlando season.
