About the tutor
Melissa White is a designer and painter of decorative interiors. She runs her practice from her Workshop in Hastings on the Sussex coast of England. Working largely to commission, she creates bespoke pieces for private homes working directly with the client or via interior designers, architects and art consultants. She also works with the heritage, retail and hospitality sectors. Melissa draws on diverse and ever changing influences for her designs and is best known for reproducing Elizabethan wall paintings and painted cloths. Her signature style is to age and distress her paintwork by cracking, washing out and rubbing back her work to distance it from the new and the mass produced, adding as she calls it “The patination of time”.
