Designer and Maker Fair: Winter Edition 2023

Join us for the winter edition of our Designer and Maker Fair

Join us for the winter edition of our popular Designer and Maker Fair, a unique chance to purchase some totally original gifts this season!

Taking place across two days in our beautiful Hay Barn at Charleston in Firle, browse our carefully hand-picked selection of artisan stalls, each selling their unique wares – with stalls from over 30 local and independent artists, ceramicists, designers and makers. Whether you’re into handcrafted homewares, sustainably sourced clothing or handwoven textiles, there’ll be a wide range of one-of-a-kind items to browse. The makers and designers will also be on hand to discuss their work, influences and ideas.

You can also take home your Christmas tree with Goldcliff Garden Centre, Lewes bringing their locally-grown trees for sale.

Just some of the makers joining us this autumn include Liv & Dom, a creative duo who hand-sculpt and paint decorative ceramics from their Lewes studio, artist Sasha Compton whose work transports viewers into a timeless world of art by creating modern reinterpretations of classical concepts, and Lewes-based perfumer Nancy Mailand who brings her botanical and dreamy scents. Explore all the makers and see the full list below!

Wreath Making Workshop
Join a festive wreath making workshop with Sarah Whiting of NettleWood Flowers. During a two hour session, Sarah will help you create a unique wreath with seasonal materials and ribbons to take home. The workshops also include entry to the Fair. Tickets for this workshop are £75. Find out more.

You can also enjoy delicious festive treats from our café partner Caccia and Tails. You’ll be able to take a break from shopping this weekend and enjoy specials, including pork and salsa verde or pumpkin risotto, and celebratory Italian pastries. There will be hot drinks, including hot chocolate with home-made marshmallows and mulled wine.

Why not make a day of it? Explore our wintry walled garden and book a visit to the house and our new exhibitions.
