Join us for a live broadcast of Lydia & Maynard: Love Letters with Helena Bonham Carter and Tobias Menzies. The event is then available on demand until the end of 2021 so you will be able to watch as many times as you like.

In a specially commissioned piece that was originally planned for and sold-out at Charleston Festival 2020, Helena Bonham Carter and Tobias Menzies read the intense love letters that passed between Lydia Lopokova, star of the Ballets Russes, and brilliant economist John Maynard Keynes.

Full of humour, tenderness and passion, this performance charts the happiest and healthiest marriage in all of the Bloomsbury group. Compiled by Charleston’s reader-in-residence, Holly Dawson.

‘When I am on the Downs in the morning I feel that I am having a cocktail with God. I roll with the grass and the hangings and wonder if I am losing time.’

– Lydia Lopokova to John Maynard Keynes
