Charleston Festival Edit FAQs

Is Charleston Festival digital this year?

Yes in 2021 we are hosting a bite-sized digital festival, Charleston Festival Edit, in place of our 10-day in-person festival. We look forward to May 2022 for the return of the full-scale Charleston Festival at Charleston.

What are the dates for Charleston Festival 2022?

Next year’s Charleston Festival will take place 19-29 May 2022.

There are four people in my household and we’d all like to watch, do we each have to buy a ticket?

Tickets are for one household, so you only need to purchase one ticket for all four people.

How and where do I watch the event online?

You will be sent an online viewing link and password immediately after you have purchased your ticket. Please also check your spam inbox. If you have any trouble receiving your link, please email events@charleston.org.uk

Can I buy a combined ticket to all three events?

Yes. By buying an ‘All Events’ ticket you will save £5 (£30, rather than £35).

Can I use a gift voucher to purchase tickets for the Charleston Festival Digital Edit?

Due to technical difficulties, we are not able to process gift vouchers online at this time. We are currently in the process of upgrading our ticketing system and gift vouchers will be redeemable online from May 2021 onwards. Festival goers who exchanged their 2020 Charleston Festival tickets for gift vouchers will be able to redeem these until 29 May 2022.

When will I be able to visit Charleston in person?

Our garden is opening to the public from 2 April. You can book a free ticket to the garden here. In line with government guidelines, we plan to open the house, galleries, shop and café on 19 May. Tickets for the house and the exhibitions will be on sale soon.

How many events are part of the festival?

There are three digital events as part of the Charleston Festival Edit: The Waves: 90th Anniversary Performance, Doing the Numbers: A Feminist Economics, and James Ivory: A Life with Forster.

Are the events live?

The events are pre-recorded in advance to ensure a high-quality viewing experience.

I can’t make the event at 7pm on the specified date, can I watch on catch up?

Yes. Each of our events will premiere at 7pm over the weekend of 9-11 April, but you don’t have to join us then. The recorded events will be available to watch as many times as you like on demand until midnight on 16 May.

Where can I buy the books that are mentioned in the events?

You can buy the books online via City Books which is Brighton based. Each event page will have a link to City Books where you can buy the book corresponding to the event. By buying your books using the affiliated links on our website you’ll be supporting a local independent bookshop, plus Charleston.

Is there a way that I can donate more to Charleston?

Yes. Find out how you can support us here. Thank you.
