Why has challenging the status quo become increasingly difficult? Michael Mansfield KC who has taken on cases from Bloody Sunday to Grenfell, explains all
Barrister Michael Mansfield KC has spent his career taking on some of the most controversial cases of our times, including the Birmingham Six, Bloody Sunday, the striking miners, Stephen Lawrence, Hillsborough and Grenfell. His experiences at the coalface of the English legal system have provided him with a fascinating insight into its many idiosyncrasies from the late 1960s to now.
Michael will be delivering a lecture reflecting on his experiences with the law, explaining how challenging the status quo is becoming increasingly difficult. This will be followed by an onstage conversation with Helena Kennedy KC, a leading barrister and expert in human rights law, civil liberties and the constitution.
This event is held in honour of the renowned barrister Jeremy Hutchinson who had a life-long association with Charleston and the Bloomsbury group.
