Roger Fry's Post Impressionist Exhibition in 1910

Monday 8 November
6.30pm - 8.30pm
£15 W1 London, venue to be confirmed

'Manet and The Post-Impressionists' was shown by Roger Fry at the Grafton Galleries, London in 1910, and introduced the modern movement in painting to a shocked English public. It included artists such as Cezanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh. The Edwardian academicians reacted with horror, even describing the show as 'dangerous'. The show invigorated a new generation of young artists: Vanessa Bell's and Duncan Grant's paintings were included in Fry's second Post-Impressionists exhibition in 1912. A talk will be given by Dr Anna Gruetzner-Robins.
