Wendy Hitchmough, Curator at Charleston, explores the complex dynamics at work in Duncan Grant's series of portraits of Vanessa Bell. From his earliest paintings of her through to a poignant sketch drawn by Grant just weeks before her death in 1961, together these works chart a relationship that spanned over half a century.
