Entertaining at Charleston
… something entirely different
Charleston is now taking bookings for private events for the Summer of 2008 and offers an enchanting setting for your summer party, birthday, wedding reception* or corporate event.
The grounds at Charleston offer quintessential English country gardens with a difference: they are also inspiring and original artists’ gardens. The gardens were famously a source of inspiration for the Bloomsbury artists and are exclusively yours with any booking. The Walled Garden particularly is the perfect setting for drinks before dinner and the orchard and the pond provide additional attractive features.
The barn at Charleston
Charleston also has a large L-shaped 17th century Sussex flint barn. Use of the barn is included for the venue hire fee. Alternatively, we can recommend good local marquee suppliers should you want to install a marquee on site at Charleston for your event (this comes as an additional cost).
Exclusive use of Charleston for your event is £1,000 (no VAT is payable). For catering, furniture, equipment, flowers and drinks, we can recommend suppliers or you may bring your own.
*Please note that Charleston is not licensed to perform wedding ceremonies, though wedding/civil partnership blessings and receptions are welcomed.
The Appleshed
The Appleshed is a perfect venue for your meeting, training session, seminar or lunch. A private space seating 40 theatre style or 15 boardroom, the Appleshed is converted from original 17th century Sussex outbuildings and also contains a pretty courtyard garden. Available for daytime hire from November to March each year, and outside Charleston opening hours at other times.
