HOW TO SEE CHARLESTON
Entry is by guided tour only on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Our guides bring the story of Charleston and its inhabitants to life. On Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays there are no tours, rooms are stewarded and you are able to see the house at your own pace.
One of the charms of Charleston is its human scale. Because the rooms are small and the objects and surfaces fragile we have to limit the amount of visitors in the house at any one time. During popular times this may mean that you cannot enter the house straight away. There are plenty of other things to see and do at Charleston, see ‘Planning your visit’ for details.
Families: The best day for families with young children to visit is Sunday when the rooms are stewarded and you can go around the house at your own pace. There is a children’s trail to fill in and you can leave the house and return as often as you like or need!
