Because Charleston accomodates pre-booked groups outside of public opening hours, you can choose which of our tours would best suit the interests of your particular group. Our tours fall into two catagories, 60 minute tours and 90 minute tours which include the kitchen (a room not usualy on display).
60 minute tours, available to groups of up to 50.
The Charleston tour: an excellent introduction to Charleston, this hour-long tour tells the story of Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant and their family and friends from their arrival at the house in 1916 to the creation of the Charleston Trust in the 1980s.
Bloomsbury in Sussex: Similar to the Charleston tour, this tour highlights the links between Charleston and other Bloomsbury sites in Sussex. Perfect if your group also plans to visit Monks House and Berwick Church.

90 minute tours, available to groups of up to 30.
Collecting at Charleston: This new tour asks what can we learn from the collecting habits of Vanessa Bell, Clive Bell and Duncan Grant and explores how their collections come together to create this vibrant and individual home.
From Omega: the Bloomsbury interior: This tour looks in detail at Bloomsbury decoration through Charleston’s unique interiors. We explore how pieces are made and the special effects of different materials – from pelmets to painted furniture. Cupboard doors and chests of drawers are opened to reveal glimpses of textiles and ceramics not normally on public display.
The Sisters Tour: This tour looks at the lives of the sisters, Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf, the painter and writer who stood at the centre of the Bloomsbury group. The tour explores their relationship from their Victorian childhood in Kensington to Bloomsbury and ultimately to Sussex.
A Day in the Life of: From sunrise to sunset and beyond, this tour will explore the details of a working day at Charleston.
