Information

Charleston, Firle, Lewes, East Sussex, BN8 6LL

Charleston, the former home of Bloomsbury artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, is nestled under the South Downs in a stunning rural location.

Small Wonder main events are held in a traditional barn which provides an appropriately atmospheric and intimate setting for lively readings and discussions. An induction loop is fitted in the auditorium for the hard of hearing. Refreshments, food and a bar are available throughout the festival and there are many quiet spots, both inside and out, to relax between events. The bar and box office will open 30 minutes before the first event each day. A wide range of related book titles will be available from the festival book shop, which is run by City Books, Hove.

The Outsider programme of events is designed to complement the main festival programme. Our Arabian tent, in the Charleston orchard, is the creative hub for these fringe events. Tickets for all Outsider events are available direct from Charleston on 01323 811626

Due to the nature of both venues it can become slightly chilly, particularly for evening events, so warm clothing is strongly recommended.
