The Quentin Follies - 5th July 2008

The Quentin Follies is an event that celebrates the Bloomsbury passion for colourful theatricals, featuring a kaleidoscope of spellbinding acts including comedy, music, drama and burlesque.

Quentin Bell, the son of Vanessa Bell, produced ceramics and drawings infused with fantasy and the magic of the music-hall and the gravity-defying art of the stage illusionist ran through much of his work. All his life Quentin's taste was for the preposterous, the disrespectful, the dramatic. "The Quentin Follies" pays flamboyant homage to a 'man of many arts'; a much-loved writer, teacher and father.

The evening begins with drinks and a picnic in the idyllic grounds of the house, then there is the chance to view and bid for works of art donated to the Quentin Follies Art Auction. Finally, after the evening of entertainment in the barn, there is a spectacular firework display over the Charleston pond.

The Quentin Follies is the main fundraiser for the Quentin Bell Commemoration Fund, a body which provides much needed support for Charleston to acquire works that originally came from the house.

All proceeds raised by the above fundraising event is in aid of The Charleston Trust. The Charleston Trust, Registered Charity No. 1107313, is a non profit making company limited by guarantee.
