WALKING INTO WORDS:
A Writing Workshop, with Olivia Laing
Wednesday 30 or Thursday 31 May
10am – 5pm at Charleston
£120 includes a poet’s lunch and full refreshments
Virginia Woolf and Frank O’Hara are two of the 20th century’s most original writers. Both used walking – city strolls, rural tromps – as ways of stimulating their writing. In this workshop led by the acclaimed writer and critic Olivia Laing, we’ll be looking at Woolf’s diaries and O’Hara’s lunch poems to see how these fertile strategies of walking and observing might be applied to our own work.
Olivia Laing is a writer and critic. She is the former deputy literary editor of the Observer and her first book, To the River, is the story of a midsummer journey from source to sea along the Ouse, inspired by the words and spirit of Virginia Woolf.
