Sunday 27th May
All That Jazz
Hannah Rothschild with Bonnie Greer
5pm Tickets £13
We all know what it means to be transported by music, but Hannah Rothschild’s great-aunt, Pannonica, took this very literally. A Rothschild by birth and a Baroness by marriage, she abandoned her husband and children in England in search of the jazz legend Thelonious Monk, after hearing one of his pieces. A flamboyant figure on the New York club scene – Charlie Parker died in her apartment – she cared for Monk until his death. Hannah Rothschild discusses her book, The Baroness, with Bonnie Greer, playwright, author and critic, and shows clips of the BBC film she made about Pannonica.
