Why does the house close in the winter?

What are the Shop opening times in winter?

The shop opens weekends between the end of the house season and Christmas, after which it closes until the new season.  The online shop stays open all year round.

Arriving at Charleston

How do I get to Charleston?

Charleston is situated between Lewes and Eastbourne on the A27.

It can be difficult to reach us on foot, by bike or public transport so we offer a ‘green’ discount on house tickets for those who persevere.

How long should I allow for my visit?

We recommend at least two hours for your visit to Charleston to be able to enjoy all we have to offer.



How can I book tickets to visit the house?

Tickets to visit Charleston for each day are available to purchase online until midnight the day before you intend to visit. Please click here to book your tickets online

If you have missed this deadline you will need to purchase tickets from the Shop on the day of your visit on the day on a first come, first served basis.

Can I book a group visit?

We offer group visits Wednesday-Saturday, outside of our public opening hours. We can accommodate groups of up to 50 people.

Charleston is an independent charity and receives no public funding for its day-to-day running costs. It relies on the income it generates across activities, as well as the donations and grants kindly provided by our supporters. We thank you in advance, for your kind donations.
