Charleston was the one time home of the Bloomsbury painters Vanessa Bell (Virginia Woolf's sister) and Duncan Grant. It nestles under the South Downs between Brighton and Eastbourne.
All events take place in a traditional marquee in the grounds at Charleston Farmhouse.
Book shop: run by City Books of Hove and stocking a wide range of volumes from Charleston and Brighton Festivals.
Meet the writers in person: most speakers appearing at the Charleston Festival will be signing at the end of their event.
Getting here: Charleston is halfway between Brighton and Eastbourne, only 6 miles east of Lewes.
Rail: Service run regularly from London Victoria to Lewes station. For train time information please call National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950 or visit http://www.nationalrail.co.uk. Taxis are available at Lewes station.
Bus: A shuttlebus service, provided by the Cuckmere Community Bus runs from Lewes station direct to our door for all events.
For the first time this year a Brighton Express service, provided by the eco-friendly Big Lemon, will be in operation for all weekend events.

By road: Charleston is sign-posted off the A27 Brighton to Eastbourne road, 7 miles east of Lewes, between the villages of Firle and Selmeston. Parking is free but can be a short distance from the festival site in fields, farmyards and buildings.
The Festival Tea Tent: whatever the weather there will be a selection of freshly made refreshments, hot and cold drinks.
The Festival Bar: Charleston is fully licensed and the festival bar is open before and after each event.
Access: There are designated disabled parking spaces. The marquee, bar and bookshop are accessible to wheelchair users though some surfaces may be slightly uneven. The tea tent is in an orchard with no footpath.
An induction loop is fitted in the marquee for the hard of hearing.
